The painter, a Provençal by adoption although born in Lille, is a great specialist in seaside scenes, tartanes, and fishing boats, whether at dock or out at sea, which he depicted masterfully in a generous medium, often on panels that allowed him to play with the surface and leave beautiful reserves of paint, giving his works a life and a particular vibrancy. It is signed at the bottom left. Born in Lille in 1892, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts there. Mobilized in 1914, he became a prisoner in the Baltic, and after the war, he joined his family, who had taken refuge in Marseille. His love for the city was immediate.

He settled in Sausset les Pins and began painting seascapes. He exhibited in Marseille at the Moullot and Jouvène galleries. His success fueled the jealousy of local artists, which he suffered from but chose to ignore. His favorite subjects included "boats in Martigues," tartanes in the Old Port, landscapes of bastides, and multicolored bouquets. After 1945, he moved to the top floor of a building on Rue de Rome, from where his studio overlooked the Port facing Notre Dame de La Garde. He painted for over fifty years with full-bodied paint and a knife for a clientele that remained loyal and devoted to him.
