V. Makovsky – Oil on Cardboard, Woodland Scene, Realism, Dated 1923

Charming oil painting on board depicting a woodland scene with a path leading to a cabin, signed V. See the signature at the lower right in the photos.

The artist is Russian and probably related to the family of painters associated with Vladimir Egorovich Makovsky. Possibly a study by his son. A painting of artistic merit, with particularly successful colour contrasts on the tree trunks. A realistic scene, perhaps with hints of Fauvism.

The paint surface is in excellent condition, with no paint loss or abrasion. The later frame, dating from the 1950s, shows some scuffing and light soiling.

Frame dimensions: 46.3 x 38.5 x 2.3 cm.
Visible painting dimensions: 34 x 26.4 cm.
