Superbe Peinture 19th-romantism - Old Man Portrait To Bleus-signed Eyes

Superb romantic painting (oil on wooden panel), dating from 1889 and with a signature mark. This is a portrait, apparently a study, representing a rather old man. Her hair as well as her beard are long and greying and her blue eyes are carried towards the sky giving a dramatic appearance to the composition.

We barely distinguish his shoulders but we can see that he is dressed in a red toge. It may be that this character is a character of history or even related to religion if one makes all these details. The table is signed on the bottom right but unfortunately I did not succeed in deciphering it.

This obviously does not detract from the quality of this painting and the strength of this character through his powerful gaze. Dimensions: - 40 cm / 28 cm. 47 cm / 35 cm (frame). Note: the table is relatively in good condition! However, I would like to point out several small gaps (photo 10) that will be easily restored by a professional.
