The painting appears to be signed at the bottom right "Baron" or "Baror" / see detail in photo 9: its beautiful quality deserves investigation to try to discover exactly which painter it is / a note to research enthusiasts.. Note: in front of the cathedral, one can see the silhouette of the bronze statue of Henri de Belsunce, who was a famous Bishop of Marseille: this detail is significant here for dating the work because during World War II, the resistance hid it from the Germans who were seeking to melt down and recover all non-ferrous metals.. After the war, the statue was moved further to the left and is no longer aligned with the entrance of the cathedral.. Panel size (wood): 60 cm x 50 cm.
