He initially attended the Academy of the Grande Chaumière in Paris and was exhibited in many regional, Parisian, and international salons where he accumulated accolades. While he did not share the fate of Van Gogh, who remained unrecognized during his lifetime, the prominence of his works has nevertheless faded; of course, there is no certainty in this, except for his stubbornness to remain his own master, refusing to identify with any movement, and staying on the margins.
His work, indeed, resembles none other; one immediately recognizes a painting by this artist, finding in each work this sensitivity, richness, mobility, and sobriety unique to him.
