Maurice Vagh-Weinmann is a Hungarian painter, engraver, illustrator, and lithographer born on August 20, 1899, in Budapest. He paints in an expressionist style and belongs to the first School of Paris.
A member of a family with ten children, Maurice pursues a painting career just like two of his brothers. Maurice paints in Paris with his brothers Nandor and Elemer. Upon arriving in France, he Frenchifies his first name from Mihaly to Maurice.He paints with a determined touch, using bold colors in a lighter tone than his two brothers. His works often reference Hungarian themes, landscapes, and peasants in traditional costumes. He is the uncle of painter André Vagh-Weinmann, born in 1925.
