Hello, I am selling this miniature painting with a height of 9.5 cm and a width of 14.5 cm, or 13 cm by 18 cm including the frame. It is a superb oil painting on panel, possibly on cardboard (I don't think it's wood), done by Léon Baize (1848-unknown, signature on the bottom left), a recognized French painter known for the quality of his work in small or very small formats. The painting depicts a lakeside landscape with a peasant woman walking along the shore. The artwork has beautiful depth, with brighter light on the left side highlighting the character, the lovely foliage effects of various plants, and the accurate depiction of water reflecting the hues of the sky, tender like a morning, with convincing reflections. Despite some minor signs of wear, the painting is in excellent condition, likely due to its protective glass or another element providing perfect sealing.
The frame shows some marks and wear from age; I believe the painting dates from the late 19th or early 20th century, while the frame is probably from the 1940s or 1950s. The photos were taken under natural light from my skylights on a relatively sunny afternoon. After numerous tests, I found that the colors in the first photo, including the frame, captured most accurately what one would see in "normal" conditions, providing a good balance between sufficient light source and nuanced colors. Keep in mind that screens on computers or mobile phones other than mine, and their brightness and contrast settings, may slightly alter the results I achieved. Nevertheless, you can consider my photos as sufficiently representative of reality under similar observation conditions.
This piece may interest collectors, vintage enthusiasts, curious individuals, decoration enthusiasts, or those who appreciate its intrinsic beauty! It would make an excellent gift. The item will be shipped with care, or you can opt for a hand delivery if you prefer.
IMPORTANT: All shipments include insurance proportional to the value of the item. Therefore, if the cardboard is damaged, even slightly, or opened, even partially, you must ask the delivery person to note any issues if it's a postal delivery, or refuse the package at the pick-up point if it's with Mondial Relay. However, if you can request to add notes with the scanning device for the shipping labels, you can receive the package after that without any issues.
Remember to check the condition of the cardboard thoroughly in both cases before they take further action. In the case of Mondial Relay, if you refuse the delivery, the package will be held at the pick-up point for return to the service for inspection to determine responsibility and make the insurance effective. With postal delivery, if the package fits in your mailbox and is damaged, return it unopened to the nearest post office for inspection.
I recommend taking photos of the damaged cardboard for comparison with mine once I receive it.
