Provenance: artist's property (artist's descendants). He studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and attended the Julian Academy. During the First World War, he was a musician-stretcher bearer and participated in the Battle of Verdun in 1916.
He also made several portraits of his fellow soldiers (some of which are for sale). He is known for his portraits, often depicting his family in his works as well as people from the theater. He is a member of the winter salon. Some of his compositions are influenced by Chardin.
