On The Docks Of Bordeaux 1905. Rare Painting By Paul Sain (1853-1908)

  
Oil on wood bevelled panel (24cm format 32,5cm out original frame) signed lower left p healthier. On the back we find Handwritten difficult to read in daylight: the Bordeaux docks (as listed on the cartridge), date (7bre 1905) and the signing of Paul healthier. A label on the frame indicates 1906 ... The rest is impossible to decipher: perhaps indications for an exhibition.

This work would be very late in the production of this artist of Avignon. It is mainly known for its many (1600) portraits. He was part of an artistic siblings; his other two brothers being a sculptor and lacquer.

A view of the docks and the Garonne which should be an exception for this artist who often painted his hometown. But certainly not for such an interesting sight.
