In the painting, on a completely dark background, appears the crucified Jesus Christ with closed eyes, his head crowned with thorns and his feet nailed. The white loincloth serves to emphasize the nudity of the body. The dark background recalls the darkness that descended on the earth from the sixth hour to the ninth hour of Good Friday, but it is also a way to isolate the crucified Christ and transform him into a universal image. In the painting, there is an inscription placed on the upper end of the cross of Jesus, called titulus crucis, which reads as follows: INRI "IESUS NAZARAENUS REX IUDAEROUM" - "Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews". Antique painting signed at the bottom left.
