Hello, I am selling this painting with a height of 14.5 cm and a width of 21 cm. It is a superb oil on wood probably made after 1940, signed at the bottom left Durand Populus, a French painter, representing a seascape in the early morning (we can read on the back of the panel, "Sunrise in the bay of Ste Maxime", which is located in Saint-Tropez), where two fishing boats are busy with their daily activities, nets thrown into the sea, while the other three sail towards a location that will allow their trawls to bend under the weight of fish. Let us emphasize the rendering of the light in which the scene bathes, particularly soft, and these touches of colors in the sky and water, applied with surprising parsimony, such as these turquoise shades on the surface.
The composition, despite tiny signs of wear here and there, is in excellent condition and has benefited from restoration in the form of cleaning and application of a light layer of a shiny varnish, which gives the painting some appreciable reflections, especially in the water, while remaining discreet to not hinder the readability of the whole. Reflections are also present here and there, especially on certain parts of the sails, in the form of surprising golden touches, as if they were gold leaves. As for the frame, which has been restored by me by painting it in gold, it remains in good overall condition despite some signs of wear, superficial material losses, small impacts, and irregularities here and there.
The photos were taken under skylights created by my Velux windows, during a relatively sunny afternoon. After numerous tests, I realized that the color rendering in the first two photos, with my equipment, is the one that faithfully reproduces the colors the most, regardless of the distance, the one that can be observed in conditions that most people would consider as "normal", which would offer a good compromise between sufficient light source and nuanced colors without excess. However, note that computer screens or mobile phones other than mine, depending on their brightness and contrast, may more or less modify the results I have achieved. With these elements in mind, you can still consider my photos as sufficiently representative sources of reality, under observation conditions similar to those described earlier. For collectors, people attracted to vintage items, curiosities, decorative objects, or simply admirers of their intrinsic beauty!
It is an excellent gift idea. The shipment will be done with seriousness, unless you prefer hand delivery, which is entirely possible if you make the trip. Also, for this to be taken into account, it is imperative, if the cardboard is damaged enough (you must determine it upon inspection) at any place, and/or opened, even partially, that you ask the delivery person to indicate reservations, if it is a shipment with La Poste, or that you refuse the package with the personnel of the relay point, if it is a shipment with Mondial Relay, UNLESS. You will have to ask them. You have the possibility to note reservations.
With the scanning box of shipping slips. So you can then receive the package - before they scan the shipping slip or perform any other operation to confirm that you have received the package; in other words, ask to verify the condition of the cardboard, not missing any place, in these two cases before they act. In the case of Mondial Relay, if your refusal of receipt is formulated, the package will be kept by the relay point to be returned to the expertise service, for a verification aiming to report the responsibility of the delivery persons and to make the insurance effective (information gathered on their site) in the case where the object is damaged.
Regarding La Poste, if the delivery is made in your mailbox because the dimensions of the package allow it, without hand delivery therefore, and the cardboard is damaged enough (a nuance that you must determine), you must return it to the nearest post office to you without opening it, asking the counter staff to return the package to me (information gathered on their site), also in anticipation of a verification by the delivery service, UNLESS, as for the case with Mondial Relay, the postal office staff can indicate reservations. In any case, do not hesitate to take photos of the damaged and/or opened cardboard. You may think, for any reason, that the object inside the cardboard remains in perfect condition, despite the damaged package, enough (you have to determine it upon inspection), and/or opened, even partially, and therefore that you do not ask to make reservations, or that you accept the package if making reservations is not possible; but know that this is like playing Russian roulette since the delivery services count on the human error factor, which by the way suits them well since, I repeat, the insurance is then no longer effective due to the sacred transfer of responsibility from the delivery person to the sender or recipient; less expenses for them since they will not have to pay the insurance sum! And do not count on shaking the package to determine if the object is broken; unless it is made of glass or ceramic, the sound of breakage is imperceptible, or it could be a protective element in the package.
Make sure to communicate all these elements in case it is a third party who collects the package on your behalf. If you have any questions or desire more photos, do not hesitate to let me know.
