Between the late 19th century and the early 20th century, Omer Camoreyt is one of the best painters of the port of Bordeaux, with a preference for views of shipyards. However, his works from Bordeaux are unfortunately quite rare. Born in Gers, young Camoreyt was encouraged by one of his relatives, Eugène Camoreyt, a drawing teacher and founder of the museum in Lectoure.

Initially a student at the Bordeaux School of Fine Arts, he made his debut at the Salon des Amis des Arts, where he exhibited paintings of the Port de la Lune at the age of 16. He then went to Paris where he studied under Maignan, Bonnat, and Cormon. Exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes français, he won medals in 1899, 1900, and. Following his training in Bordeaux, he became a marine painter and depicted ports in France, as well as in Italy or on the Bosphorus. Additionally, he became an etcher and illustrator, providing drawings for the press and for editions of Arsène Lupin.
