Marine, oil on wood by Louis Bissinger (1899 - 1978) also known as Régis Bérard (see biography). Louis Bissinger was born on April 24, 1899 in Lyon and died on February 25, 1978 in Rillieux le Pape. In the Dauphiné region which he held dear, he met and befriended many Lyon painters such as Giacomini, Anselme, Abel Gay, Romagnol, Mademoiselle Soudan and Reignier, with whom he shared the same admiration for the painter Ravier. Some works by Louis Bissinger are signed "Bérard" or "Régis Bérard", a pseudonym he often used.

During the war, he was arrested on September 14, 1943 in Lyon and interned at Montluc prison. Transferred to Compiègne, he was deported on December 14, 1943 to the Buchenwald camp by convoy No. During his detention, he managed to create watercolors. Upon his return to France, he organized an exhibition of his works illustrating the horrors of the death camps. He won the 1st Prize of the city of Lyon in 1945, and participated in numerous exhibitions in the following years.

In 1950, he moved to Morestel and worked there until 1960. In 1954, he won the 1st Prize of the Friends of the Arts of Grenoble. In 1957, the French State and the Army Museum reinforced his success by acquiring several paintings. After several stays in Franche-Comté with his wife Yvette (especially in Lons-le-Saunier in Jura with his antique dealer friends Miss and Mr.

Luigi) but also in Burgundy, Alsace, Champagne in Marne, he moved to Brandovilliers in 1970. Louis Bissinger left behind a large number of works. Shipping outside of France (EU only) on request.
