A collection of anonymous or forgotten painters, a treasure trove of dormant works, "the Museum of the Crust" brings to light various creations. Oil on panel, signed at the bottom right. Panel dimensions: 24.5 × 35 cm. Dimensions with frame: 26.5 × 37 cm. A superb rural composition by Jules-Oscar Maes, depicting a haymaking scene bathed in light.

The artist employs a vigorous and generous brushstroke, typical of his style, with a rich and vibrant texture where the impasto captures the warmth of the sun on freshly cut hay. Greens, ochres, and blues intertwine in a luminous harmony that evokes both the strength of rural labor and the tranquil poetry of the countryside.

The painting, executed on panel, stands out for its impressive relief and deeply expressive material. Framed in a warm wooden American box, it exudes a timeless charm and a rare pictorial presence. The artist’s signature is at the bottom right. An old handwritten label on the back mentions the artist's name and the title. Overall good condition, well-preserved impasto, high-quality later framing.

A work full of energy and sunlight, reflecting Jules-Oscar Maes's love for nature and light. A beautiful example of landscape painting from the first half of the 20th century, balancing poetic realism and modern brushwork.
