Representing low tide fishing boats on the beach with a Breton in the foreground. This rare opening dates from the Breton period of veyrassat when he moved away from the rural representations with horses and field work. Very good general condition with a patinated wooden frame. Panel dimensions: 27 x 35 cm. Dimensions with frame: 38 x 46 cm.

Jules jacques veyrassat is a French painter born in Paris in 1828. He studied in the workshop of henri lehmann and began at the salon in 1848. He is known for his paintings on nature and horses in particular. He was attached to the school of écouen or lived and followed the courses of brother Edward stone which inspired him like daubigny to learn to the strong water. He is also attached to the barbizon school for his works close to jacque and jean-francois millet charles with whom he linked a friendship.

He's buried at the Lachaise father's house.
