From Auvers sur Oise to Pontoise - river, countryside or urban motifs - passing through the Oise valley, this tireless worker transmits to his paintings a balance achieved between vision, emotion, and the vibration of light. His painting is similar in this - despite the purists - to the impressionist movement and especially to the "style" of Camille Pissaro. This member of the French artists, Grand Prix de Rome, graduate of major international prizes: Rome, Deauville, attended at the beginning the Grande Chaumière academy in Paris and was exhibited in numerous regional, Parisian, and international salons where he accumulated awards. If he did not experience the fate of Van Gogh, unrecognized in his lifetime, the radiance of his works has nevertheless faded; to this, of course, no certainty, except for his determination to remain his own master, not to identify with any movement, to remain on the sidelines. His work, indeed, does not resemble any other, one immediately recognizes a painting by this artist, in each work one finds this sensitivity, this richness, this mobility, this sobriety unique to him. For all these reasons and, of course, the dazzling beauty of his painting, we have no doubt that soon, the recognition that is due to him - let's not talk about value - will impose itself on art lovers! Jean-Paul Ulysse passed away in 2011, at the age of 86, leaving to posterity an invaluable treasure.
