Expertise by Maître Martinot in Cergy (95). Signed, dated, and titled on the back. From Auvers sur Oise to Pontoise - riverine, rural, or urban motifs - passing through the valley of the Oise, this tireless worker transmits to his canvases a balance achieved between vision, emotion, and the vibrations of light.
His painting is similar in this regard - much to the dismay of purists - to the Impressionist movement, particularly to the "style" of Camille Pissarro. This member of the French artists' society, Grand Prix de Rome, and graduate of major international awards: Rome, Deauville, frequented the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in his early days and was exhibited in numerous regional, Parisian, and international salons where he amassed awards. Although he did not share the fate of Van Gogh, who was unrecognized in his lifetime, the radiance of his works has nevertheless faded; to this, of course, there is no certainty, except for his stubbornness to remain his own master, to not identify with any movement, to remain on the sidelines. His work, indeed, resembles no other; one immediately recognizes a painting by this artist, finding in each piece that sensitivity, richness, mobility, and sobriety unique to him.
For all these reasons, and of course, the dazzling beauty of his painting, we have no doubt that soon, the recognition he deserves - not to mention its value - will impose itself among lovers of the BEAUTIFUL! Jean-Paul Ulysse passed away in 2011, at the age of 86, leaving an invaluable legacy for posterity.
