Born in 1887 in Brazil - died in 1960 in Léopoldville in Belgian Congo - currently Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Portuguese painter and sculptor - considered one of the fathers of Africanism. An artist well recognized in the international market. His painted wooden figures are quite rare in the market.
