Graciano Mendilaharzu is an Argentinian painter who, after having worked with Martin boneo in Buesnos aires, came to Paris in 1873 and was a student of Leon Bonnat before exhibiting at the Paris Salon from 1879 portraits and genre scenes. His most famous painting was painted in France, the return home (Museum of Fine Arts of Buenos Aires). He shows his qualities of realism in the bill and the subject, qualities that have made Mendilharzu also a great portraitist. Our painting is a wonderful little still life made in the tradition of painting masters of reality.

The works of the painter who returned to Argentina in 1887 are mostly preserved in the museums of his country but they are few because mendilaharzu died relatively young.
