Large & beautiful painting from the 19th century, executed in the pure style of the animal painters of the Barbizon school, depicting a countryside landscape with a ram and sheep settled in a meadow. In 1855, he participated in the Universal Exhibition. His works are preserved in several museums, including those in Pontoise, Saint-Étienne, and Strasbourg. Values & Auctions: the auction record for a painting by "François Simon" is set at 7500 euros (Aguttes 2004); aside from this record, the prices of his paintings vary depending on their size and quality, but also based on current demand: among his results in recent years, there are about twenty auctions between 500 & 3800 euros / Source Art-Price.
