FRANÇOIS FELIX ROUBAUD Cerdon 1824 Lyon 1876. He created numerous colossal sculptures that adorn public buildings, such as the courthouse of Lyon, the stock exchange palace... But also private commissions, busts, and tombs. His works are present in many museums: Musée de Brou Bourg en Bresse, the Fine Arts Museum in Lyon, Musée de Dinan, Musée Granet in Aix en Provence, Musée d'Orsay, Palais du Louvre Paris, Château de Versailles... As a painter, he is attributed landscapes, more rarely still lifes.

A very beautiful oil on wood panel representing a pyramidal floral composition of roses and peonies. A conical vase can be distinguished in the center. The flowers spill over the table and the vase in a natural movement.

Some trailing shadows on the right reveal light coming from the left of the painting. Relief of material only on the bouquet. The back of the panel is beveled in height. Signed Fx Roubaud at the bottom left.

The frame shows fragility in the stucco with some missing parts, see the penultimate photo. The panel is in excellent condition, healthy, solid, and without weakness.

A green line on the left at the edge of the frame and a few "scratches" in the middle on the right of the painting, nothing concerning, see the last photo. Width: 61.7 cm with frame, 55 cm raw without frame.
