Oil on panel 27 x 35 cm signed and dated at bottom left. Good condition, to report a small hole (photo 5). Charles Theodore Balké, born in Moselle, fled the annexed Alsace and trained in florence painting. He then moved to Tunisia, joined the foreign legion during the First World War and in 1920 returned to France to settle in Villeneuve sur yonne.
