Character from the Tales of Hoffmann (see below) Attributed to Claire Maliquet 1878-1964

  

Very beautiful portrait of a female character, dressed in a Venetian-style costume. This painting is attributed to Claire Maliquet because, although unsigned, a pencil notation on the back indicates the artist, and it closely resembles a character from one of her paintings at the Toulon Opera titled "Scene from The Tales of Hoffmann," illustrating a play by Offenbach.

Furthermore, the artist often used wooden panels as a support.
