A student of Cormon at the École des Beaux-Arts in PARIS and at the Pierre Laurens workshop, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1924 to 1929, winning the Silver Medal. He then received a government grant for Algeria. He participated in many Salons such as the Salon d'Automne, the Independents, the Nationale, or the Tuileries, as well as the Salon of Drawing and Watercolor, of which he was appointed President. From salon to salon, he gradually took his place among the best Contemporary Artists of the 20th century.
He is very interested in Decorative Arts. He began mural painting and illustrated numerous books. He is highly regarded and sought after for his high-quality erotic drawings.
In 1954, he was promoted to Knight of the Legion of Honor for his work and was the subject of special exhibitions in the United States and England. Until 1977, he had an uninterrupted succession of exhibitions worldwide, notably in Japan. That year, before his death, he received the GRAND PRIZE OF PAINTERS WITNESSING THEIR TIME. He died on October 1 of that same year, a victim of a heart attack on the eve of his annual exhibition at the Dimpoulos Gallery in PARIS.
