Antique signed painting. Seascape. Oil painting on wooden panel

  
A seascape depicting a rough sea breaking against a rocky coastline in the foreground on the left. On the horizon, several boats can be seen, including a main sailboat with a brown/reddish mainsail, moored or sailing in the distance. The sky takes up a large part of the composition (about the upper half), filled with heavy clouds in warm, golden tones, suggesting either late day (sunset) or storm light. This work fits fully within the late Impressionist or Post-Impressionist movement, with a touch of marine realism (in the tradition of the Barbizon School or the Crozant School in the treatment of the rocks). Based on the painting itself, as well as the wooden panel and the gilded stucco frame (in the Napoleon III style or early 20th century, with Louis XV-inspired motifs), this work most likely dates from the late 19th century or the first half of the 20th century, approximately between 1890 and 1930. The wooden and gilded stucco frame shows some areas of worn and missing gilt, especially at the corners and along the edges, which is completely normal for its age.
