All my items are either antique flea market pieces or antiques, or second-hand items of varying age. As such, they show signs of age and use, which I try to indicate as clearly as possible by providing several photos and describing the item.

“His father was a textile merchant from Saint-Girons. Very young, he began painting and often visited the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse, where he entered at the age of 14. But his father, believing that an artist’s profession would not allow him to make a proper living, brought him back to Saint-Girons to work in his shop. He nevertheless continued to paint and set up his easel in places close to him. After the First World War and the death of his wife, Albert Regagnon handed over his drapery business to his brother Eugène, who was also a painter. In 1923, he settled in Toulouse, on Avenue Maignan, and devoted himself entirely to painting. In 1933, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and became a member. A landscape painter whose lesser-known as well as most remarkable works are compositions depicting scenes from rural life in Ariège, found in private collections.”

The artwork offered in this listing is a painting on a wooden panel, signed at the lower right. It is a view of a wood in Sentaraille (a commune in Ariège which, by decree of August 4, 1971, became Lorp-Sentaraille). The painting is identified and dated 1944 on a handwritten note by the artist, written in ink and glued to the back of the panel. It is sold presented in its original frame. 48 x 40 cm
