Rare Flemish wood painting of the early seventeenth century representing the harvest of manna, and which shows the miracle of manna fallen from the sky to feed the Hebrew people in the desert, evocation of divine grace and prefiguration of the Eucharist. This painting is placed in a beautiful wooden frame painted in imitation of the scale that dates from the eighteenth century and which perfectly highlights the painting, highlighting the delicacy of colors. Our painting is done on a dense wooden panel that seems to me to be walnut. The painting is in excellent condition.

The frame is in good condition, note that it was cut on 2 angles. This table is not without reminiscent of some works frans francken, and the notice of draftsmen on an attribution will be welcome.

This is obviously a work of rare quality. The technique is first-rate, with a fine and precise rendering of each element.

The bodies are rendered with a great mastery of modeling and movement and a lot of elegance. Shortcuts are perfectly made for example. Each face is expressive and looks create an interesting movement inside the painting. The eyes of the woman in the center and the child on the shoulder on the left indicate a painter of the first order, mastering the technique of course, but also a sensitive, delicate and intelligent artist.

The whole is teeming with details that nourish the picture and also make it interesting: 4 old men treated in grisaille in front of the tents, a hand brightly lit in the foreground on the right and who is about to seize the manna, 3 naked children who seem to play with what falls from the sky, a mysterious man in the foreground and wearing a haircut, the eyes of 2 older men Moses and Aaron? Turned to the sky, a body that escapes from the opening of a tent ... This multitude of faces, all expressive, still makes us think frans francken.

Frame size: 39 x 35 cm. Panel size: 27.5 x 23 cm.
